These homeowners were having trouble with furntiure placement and color. When I first got there, the living room felt small with oversized furntiure and a little boring with too much brown. They wanted a change so we went to work. The homeowners and I rotated the 8×10 rug and the coffee table 90 degrees to run lengthwise with the fireplace. We kept the couch in the same position and moved the two seagrass chairs over by the window and the large reading chair to the opposite side. We also completely removed the side table next to the reading chair. This opened everything up because we’re now using more of the width of the room and not looking at the backs of the seagrass chairs upon entering. For color, we found some floral pillows in another part of the home, an adorable antique magazine rack for in between the chairs, and some accessories from around the home for the open shelves. This transofrmation was done in a about an hour using everything the homeowners already had. The homeowners plan to soften up the windows with light linen shears and eventually change the artwork above the fireplace. I’ll add those pictures next!
After with the curtain sheers added…Wow! What a difference.
The sheers totally soften up the wall without distracting from the view outside. This transformation was done using the homeowners existing furnishings and accessories. The only things purchased were the sheers, hardware, and three pillows.
